The Turkish Competition Board has announced that it has decided to conduct a comprehensive sector inquiry into the cement sector to analyze market structure and firm behavior through a long-term and holistic perspective, given its high concentration and product homogeneity, with the aim of identifying sector-specific competition issues and contributing to policy development.

The European Commission has approved Leonardo’s acquisition of Iveco Defence Vehicles and Astra Veicoli Industriali under the EU Merger Regulation, concluding that the transaction does not raise competition concerns given its limited impact on the relevant markets and clearing it unconditionally.
The European Commission has published a Competition Merger Brief on Mars’ acquisition of Kellanova, in which it set out its assessment that, following its Phase II investigation, despite concerns that combining strong brands could increase bargaining power, extensive evidence showed that the transaction would not harm competition or lead to higher consumer prices, and therefore it cleared the transaction unconditionally.
The French Competition Authority (Autorité de la concurrence) has fined the French ski instructor union (Syndicat national des moniteurs du ski français – SNMSF) €3.4 million for imposing broad exclusivity obligations preventing instructors from exercising their profession outside ski schools run by École du ski français (ESF), thereby restricting competition by limiting instructors’ mobility and foreclosing access to the ski instruction market for competing providers.
